Levitation Series – Designed for Automation

Ariumlab’s Levitation Series magnet plates are specifically engineered for robotic applications and automated workflows. The top plate levitates on a magnetic cushion, allowing pipette tips to gently reach the bottom of the well without bending or breaking. This protects your pipette tips and tubes, prevents reagent loss, and significantly enhances pipetting accuracy.

The Levitation X-24PLT magnet plate is fully compatible with round-bottom, V-bottom, and pyramid-bottom 24 well deepwell plates.

If you’re unsure about compatibility with your specific microplate, please consult our catalog or contact our technical specialists for guidance.

Applications

Precise temperature control is critical for successful molecular diagnostic assays. Cooling and heating technologies, such as thermal cyclers and temperature-controlled incubators, are essential for achieving accurate and reliable results in molecular diagnostics.

Why cooling and heating is important for molecular diagnostics:

  1. Enzyme activity: Many molecular diagnostic techniques rely on enzymes, such as polymerases, ligases, and restriction enzymes, to catalyze reactions. Enzymes are susceptible to temperature, and their activity can be affected by even small changes in temperature. Therefore, it is important to carefully control the temperature during the reaction to ensure optimal enzyme activity.
  2. Stability of reagents: Some reagents used in molecular diagnostics are sensitive to temperature and can degrade over time if not stored at the proper temperature. For example, Taq polymerase, a commonly used enzyme in PCR, is sensitive to heat and can lose activity if not stored properly.
  3. Reproducibility: Accurate temperature control is essential for ensuring the reproducibility of results in molecular diagnostic assays. Even slight variations in temperature can lead to differences in reaction efficiency, yield, and specificity, which can affect the accuracy and reliability of the results.

Technology

ACHU unit has 2 thermoelectric coolers that are controlled by a PID controller.

A thermoelectric cooler, also known as a Peltier cooler, is a device that uses the Peltier effect to transfer heat from one side of the device to the other. When an electric current is applied to the semiconductor material, heat is absorbed on one side of the material and released on the other side, creating a temperature difference. This temperature difference can be used to cool the side of the device that absorbs heat, making it useful in a variety of applications such as refrigeration, air conditioning, and electronic cooling.

Thermoelectric coolers have several advantages over traditional cooling methods, such as no moving parts, silent operation, and miniaturization, making them ideal for use in portable or compact devices. However, they also have some limitations, including lower cooling capacity and efficiency compared to other cooling methods.

What is important when choosing the right product?

Temperature Accuracy
Maintaining temperature accuracy involves achieving precise and consistent temperatures that are reproducible throughout the entire duration of the run, and for every sample contained within the block.
Temperature Uniformity
The temperature should be consistent throughout the block, producing the same outcomes for samples located at the center or on the periphery of the block, as well as during the entire operation.
Size of the Unit
The unit should have slightly bigger than the footprint of an SBS format plate and the height should be optimal for pipetting tips to reach.

Magnetic Levitation Innovation

Ariumlab is proud to introduce the world’s first magnetically levitated microplate system—a breakthrough that redefines liquid handling efficiency.

Our magnetic levitation technology enables the plate to respond smoothly to robotic movements, eliminating the risk of tip crashing, even during high-speed or imperfect alignments. By maximizing tip reach without damage, the system:

  • Reduces reagent and sample waste
  • Compensates for automation inconsistencies
  • Improves pipetting precision
  • Enhances overall workflow reliability

Key Applications of Levitation Series Plates

Ariumlab’s Levitation Series magnet plates are ideal for a wide range of molecular biology and genomics workflows. They are specifically designed for genomic DNA purification, large-volume nucleic acid extraction, and PCR and sequencing reaction cleanup, ensuring high efficiency and minimal reagent loss.

These magnet plates also streamline NGS library preparation and support the reliable isolation of cell-free DNA (cfDNA) in both clinical and research settings. Their compatibility with automated liquid handlers makes them a powerful tool for high-throughput laboratories seeking precision, speed, and reproducibility.

Why Choose Levitation Plates?

  • No tip damage – magnetic cushioning eliminates tip crashing
  • Save reagents and samples – reach the bottom of the well with confidence
  • Streamline your setup – ready-to-use design fits major automation platform
  • Improved consistency – compensates for robotic misalignment
  • Automation-ready – optimized for integration with high-throughput systems
  • Trusted performance – reliable results in demanding genomic workflows

Automation Compatibility

The Levitation Series is compatible with a wide range of automated liquid handling systems such as Eppendorf®, Tecan®, Opentrons®, Hamilton®, Agilent®, Beckman® and high-throughput platforms. Ariumlab offers custom magnetic plates and accessories to support seamless integration into your workflows—from DNA/RNA extraction to sequencing prep.

Levitation Series plates are designed specifically for robotic applications and efficiency. Top plate is levitated with a magnetic field which acts like a cushion for the tips when they hit the bottom of the well. This keeps your tips and tubes undamaged and, significantly reduces waste of your precious reagents. Levitation X-24PLT Magnet Plate is designed for Whatman™ 24-Well 10mL plate
